MySQL
- Ideally used for in Internet based applications and Content Management Systems (CMS). MySQL is partnered with the PHP scripting language and Linux operating system(s) to deliver fast, cost effective and scalable solutions.
SQL Server
- Used for larger corporate network projects. Q&A, Dbase, Paradox. These are viewed as legacy databases and we tend to be asked to convert data and write new applications.
Microsoft Access
- Access lends itself to smaller applications such as single user and smaller network applications. It can be used for back office support for small web applications too but this needs careful consideration as it's scalability can be limited. Behind Access is the programming language Visual Basic, which can provide provide friendly, familiar and intuitive applications.
